What we replace, and when we leave it alone

Six jobs, all of them in the pipes that carry waste out of the building. If it is a boiler, a faucet or a bathroom remodel, we will say so and point you to someone who does it.

  • Stack replacement

Cast iron comes out from the roof to the cellar and new pipe goes in, supported at each floor and fitted with a vent through the roof.

    • When the iron is thin along the run

    • When joints leak at more than one floor

    • When a camera shows scale across the whole bore

  • Section repairs

One bad length or joint is cut out and replaced with a no-hub coupling and new pipe, and we say what the rest of the run looked like.

    • When the damage is one joint or one length

    • When the rest of the run passes the camera and a look

  • Building drain and house trap

The run under the cellar floor to the street connection, replaced where it has cracked, sagged or scaled.

    • When the camera shows a belly or a crack

    • When roots have found a joint

  • Laterals and branch lines

The sideways runs from baths, kitchens and laundry to the stack, replaced while the wall is open so you open it once.

    • When the stack is coming out anyway

    • When a branch drains slowly and the stack is fine

  • Vents and roof penetrations

New vent runs through the roof, flashed against the weather. We coordinate with your roofer when the roof is part of another job.

    • When drains gurgle

    • When an old vent has been cut or capped

  • Camera inspections

A camera through the cellar cleanout, a written summary and the clips sent to you, whether or not you hire us.

    • Before you buy a building

    • After a backup, before anyone cuts a wall
